World Design
Capital

The World Design Capital competition takes place every two years. It recognizes cities that specifically use design to improve the quality of life of its residents. We developed a visual identity that effectively reflects the global scope of this project while expressing its main idea of understanding design as a power that provides structure and organization.

The logo fulfills two premises: On the one hand, it is an abstract representation of the geographic coordinate system used on our planet, with the round shape of the earth. On the other, it provides the backdrop for an illustration of nerve cells – the basis for structured thinking.

The starting point for developing the typeface was the form of a stadium. The association with sports and competition is directly linked to the main idea of the project: promoting, comparing and honoring top performance.

World Design Capital

The World Design Organization (WDO) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organisation that represents the interests of designers and design organisations worldwide. It advocates design as a strategic problem-solving process that drives innovation, promotes business success and contributes to sustainable improvements in the social, cultural, economic and environmental quality of life. The WDO has had Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council since 1974 and supports its Sustainable Development Goals.
