Design Education: Back to the Future?

You are warmly invited to: DDC Salon NRW – »Design Education: Back to the Future?« on 4 November 2025 at 6:00 pm at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. The event is aimed at educators, students, and design professionals, and participation is free.

Through short keynote talks and a follow-up panel discussion, the event will explore questions such as: Is design education still up to date? How well does it address current topics like digitalisation, artificial intelligence, environmental and climate issues, social change, and today’s economic dynamics? What challenges do universities and educators face? How much freedom and how much practical orientation does design education need? Which skills do agencies and companies expect from young designers today? What is needed to make design education future-proof?

Speakers: Prof. Dr. René Spitz (Rheinische Fachhochschule Köln), Prof. Felicitas Rohden & Prof. Jantje Fleischhut (Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences), Janine Seggewiß (student, Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences), Jürgen Adolph (KMS TEAM), and Prof. Martin Breuer (AMD Düsseldorf).

The German Designers’ Club (DDC) stands for excellence in design and engages with current design topics and trends through events and networking formats. One of these formats is the DDC Salon NRW.
